Antibacterial and Antifungal Capacity of Three Commercially Available Mouthwashes with Different Concentrations of Chlorhexidine

Chlorhexidine was introduced almost seven decades ago and has a myriad of applications in dentistry. Few studies have evaluated the antimicrobial antifungal capacity different concentrations chlorhexidine mouthwashes. Therefore, aim this study, to evaluate vitro, antibacterial three commercially available mouthwashes Costa Rica, with chlorhexidine, 0.12%, 0.06%, 0.03%. The experimental method selected Kirby-Bauer effect each compound by measuring inhibitory on Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans strains, exposed antiseptic solutions. All samples showed some degree effect. Even though we provide vitro results, our findings are relevance since all species used experiment microorganisms that may be present dental plaque. Our results further support evidence oral hygiene regimens include low doses maintain reasonable efficacy.
